The Backstreet Boys Show Their Gay Pride!

May 26th, 2010 by Dick

Back when I was a “wee” little gay, I used to stare at my younger sister’s Backstreet Boys poster and imagine them all ravaging my taut body on their tour bus every night after a concert.  Well, my gay dreams have finally come true.

The Bay Area Reporter reports that the Backstreet Boys are headlining San Francisco’s Pride festival this June! It is either the savviest business move, or the beginning of a career ending tailspin. Either way, I’m checking Priceline for cheap flights!

Besides the boy band, popular for hits such as “As Long as You Love Me,” the lineup for Sunday, June 27, is expected to include Rose Royce (“Car Wash”), Martha Davis and the Motels (“Suddenly Last Summer”), and Andy Bell from Erasure (the band known for the song “A Little Respect”).

For more info on this exciting news, go HERE! or HERE!

Just in case you were keeping scores, NONE of the Backstreeters have come out of the closet…YET.  Here’s the stats:

Three of the original 5 Backstreet Boys are married, and the other two have girlfriends. (Booo!)

Brian is married to Lieghanne & they have a beautiful lil boy named Baylee. (I’m not sold on that name…)
Howie is married to Liegh & they are blessed to be having a little baby due SOON!
Kevin is married to Kristen && they have an adorable baby boy named Mason! (although he is not a current member of the group, we still like him).
Nick & AJ are currently dating…Not each other.

NIGHT WORK: THE NEW ALBUM FROM THE SCISSOR SISTERS, OUT ON JUNE 29TH

May 24th, 2010 by Dick

Get ready to get down and dance gays! Night Work, the third album from New York City’s Scissor Sisters, will be released in the U.S. on June 29th by Downtown Records. The band, which has sold over seven million albums worldwide, recorded the album in London, the Bahamas and New York City, working for the first time with an outside producer, Stuart Price (The Killers, Madonna).

Spin.com hailed Night Work as “more fuel for the dance floor” while Rolling Stone awarded three-and-a-half stars to album closer “Invisible Light,” praising Jake Shears’ “deep-throated New Wave-y vocal about ‘the doors of Babylon’ and an ‘opiate utopia.’ Welcome back to the future, Sisters!” Praising the “throbbing disco jam,” ew.com found Shears “in fine vocal form” and Sir Ian McKellen’s spoken-word interlude “awesome.” (The Harlem Gospel Choir is also featured on the track.)

From the album cover – a spandex-covered derriere shot by Robert Mapplethorpe – to its contents, Night Work pays homage to the club scene of the 1970’s and 80’s. Additional images by the iconic New York photographer, who died in 1989, will be used as covers for each of Night Work’s singles. Fans can get a sneak preview of the euphoric “Fire With Fire,” the album’s lead single, HERE. While inspired by the past, Night Work is really about an alternate future, a glorious imagining of where the music might have taken us.

“So much was progressive and being pushed and something was on fire,” says Shears of the period. “And then the party stopped in a way that couldn’t have been more dramatic. A whole generation was wiped out. Where was Sylvester, Frankie, all that heading? What if music hadn’t stopped dead in its tracks? What if you could pick up where that left off?”

In the process of answering these questions, Scissor Sisters – comprising Shears, Ana Matronic (vocals), Babydaddy (guitar/bass/keyboards) and Del Marquis (guitar) – have nailed their own sound and rekindled the magic that led Rolling Stone to christen them “one of the most improbable and endearing success stories of recent years.”

The band’s self-titled first album, which allmusic.com called “one of the catchiest debuts of the new millennium,” was the best-selling album in the UK in 2004 and earned the band three BRIT awards the following year. Stateside, Scissor Sisters performed on “Saturday Night Live” and enjoyed success at pop radio with “Take Your Mama,” which was licensed by numerous TV shows. Ta-Dah, released in 2006, debuted at No. 1 on the UK album chart while lead track “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” simultaneously topped the UK singles chart.

1800GAYLIVE Heads South For A Steamy Hot Photo Shoot – Part 2

May 23rd, 2010 by Dick

Dick here.  Once again, I am going to turn over the blog to Marc from 1800GAYLIVE so he can continue detailing his recent trip to Florida for the photo shoot.  If you missed part 1 of his adventures, how dare you???  No worry, you can read it here and come back.  But he’s back with more stories and photos of the journey!  He promised some great stuff so I’m going to hold him to it.  OK, I’ve rambled enough again.  I will now turn it over to Marc…

Part 2

Thanks Dick. My first article was a bit of a tease, I admit. I hadn’t gotten to the good parts yet. But I wanted to build up to better stuff!  So let’s start talking about what happened when I got to the photo shoot site.

We arrived early (well early for model time I think, it was around 10:00AM). When I got there some of the models had already shown up and the others arrived shortly after.  We had a total of 9 guys we would be working with. Eight were coming on day one and we were replacing one guy who couldn’t stay for both days with another on day 2.  I tell you, when I signed up for this job, if you told me one of my duties would be hanging out in Florida for two days with 9 hot, sexy, adorable models, I wouldn’t have believed you.  But it was really happening and I was in heaven.

Hugo Shows Off His Perfect Body

The first model I met that we started working with was Hugo.  What can I say about Hugo?  The guy is about as perfect as they come. He’s sweet, funny, built, and nice as anything. I had never met him before this, but after about 30 seconds of talking to him, none of that mattered. He was easy going and approachable (as were all the guys really) and a great way to kick off the shoot.

As you can see in the photos in this post, there is a ladder in the front of the shot.  The reason for this is actually pretty cool. For our new ad campaign and website (coming soon!) we wanted to try a fresh approach to what you are used to seeing. The majority of our images were shot from the ladder, looking down on the models. This creates a unique, fresh perspective for our images that will really grab your attention.  We will be unveiling these on a much larger scale in the weeks ahead, so this is your advanced preview of the behind the scenes pix.

Strike a pose with Rusty! Work it!

By the way, what you are seeing here are pictures I personally took at the shoot. I was not up on the ladder, so you are not seeing the top down perspective. And they were either taken on my digital camera or iPhone, so the quality is good to fair at best.  I had to turn my flash off so as to not interfere with that of the photographer, although like catching lightening in a bottle, a few of my shots were taken at the exact moment his flash went off and you can see the difference in the quality (those look much better)!   Ok, I got way off topic talking about Hugo and the other models so let me get back to that.

Up next was Rusty. Another tall hunk of burning love, Rusty was somewhat different than Hugo in terms of personality.  What I mean is that when the cameras were off, Rusty sort of kept to himself. I don’t mean that as a bad thing, but he was sort of quiet and not too chatty, he just went off and did his own thing.  So I had a fear he’d be like that in front of the camera, but whoa was I mistaken!  Once he stepped on the giant roll of white paper, he came alive. He was cracking jokes, making us all laugh, and probably didn’t even realize he was doing it.  And did I mention he is ultra sexy?  Just look at him. I think he’s been to a gym once or twice in his life…  We all loved working with Rusty, but once he was done with his shots, he’d head back to where he was hiding out and he’d pretty much stay out of the spotlight until we needed him again!

Wow, I still have 7 more models to talk about and we haven’t even gotten to the part where they get naked yet.  But I’ll save that and more for the future, so check back again soon for the next part in my adventures at the 1800GAYLIVE Photo shoot.

Stay tuned and stay hard!

I Just Snarfed My Fierce Fiji Water…

May 20th, 2010 by Dick

So, I was scanning the web this morning…Mostly checking Craigslist to see if I could find old Start Wars glasses. I had my Facebook chat on, and one of my favorite 1-800GayLive finds sent me an IM. I was hoping it was for a little early AM loving…But he sent me the FUNNIEST blog entry I have ever, EVER, read…Even funnier then me!  It made me laugh so hard, I snarfed up my fierce Fiji water all over my nightgown!

Here is an exerpt:

“Believe me, I have no interest in getting my cock sucked by some queer. But try telling that to the guy at the beach club. Or the one at the video store. Or the one who catered my wedding. Or any of the countless other homos who’ve come on to me recently. All of them sucked my cock, and there was nothing I could do to stop them.”

Or this classic line:

“I tell you, when a homosexual is sucking your cock, a lot of strange thoughts go through your head: How the hell did this happen? Where did this fairy ever get the idea that I was gay? And where did he get those fantastic boots?”

To read more of this INCREDIBLE op-ed, titled Why Do All These Homosexuals Keep Sucking My Cock?” Go HERE!

Take That Cape Off!

May 19th, 2010 by Dick

Like many gay dudes, I have a huge fetish for men in tights.  The tighter the better too.

I guess it all started as a kid when my older brother FINALLY shared with me some of his comic book collection.  Since then, I’ve been reading everything from The X-Men to Superman. I was the first in line to see Iron Man, and I have been crying on my roommate’s shoulder ever since I found out that NBC is canceling HEROES.

But, I’ve forgiven NBC.  The are debuting a NEW super-hero show next season.  It’s called THE CAPE!  The main character is super hunky, and it has all the delicious pathos we need for a good super-drama.  With LOST making an exit from the stage, Lord knows we need something to occupy our time between 1-800 Gay Live boys.

Check out the trailer HERE:  THE CAPE

Not bad, right?  I’m going to be watching it!

In Love With Albie

May 18th, 2010 by Dick

I admit it. I am a Bravo addict.  It’s the combination of their dram-filled gay-overloaded crazyfest program schedules.  Plus, they always trot out some nice tail to admire…

Currently, I have the biggest crush on Albie Manzo, from the Real Housewives of New Jersey.  What an adorable hunk of Garden State flesh…

Albie is Caroline “Thick As Thieves” Manzo’s son, as well as Dina and Jacqueline’s nephew.  Crazy whore Danielle also tried to suck him into her sntachety-snatch last season too – but she’s insane and who would blame her?  Albie’s tasty like The Brownstone’s meat-a-ballsa! He’s a good son and nephew, a nice clean-cut kid.  I want to drag him down into the mud with me and do naughty things to him.  Yum yum.  Check out Albie’s personal party pics HERE.

Much like the skanks in the picture to the left, I am sure Albie has golddigging crotch-hungry vamps clawing at him all day long.  Poor Mama Caroline probably has to taser the whores off her first born.  Not only is he on TV (and I’d sleep with anyone…I mean ANYONE on TV) but he’s good looking, sweet, $$$$$, and I’m guess fairly-well manscaped downstairs.  Those Italian boys always keep the shrubs trimmed.

So gar, this season of RH of NJ has been a bit slow for my taste. I need more table-flipping and less tomato-sauce making.  I also get a little sick in my stomach every time one of the Real Ugly Dogs/Cats of New Jersey trots onto frame.  The producers seem to be obsessed with the dogs and cats this year. Knock it off.  Less animals, more Albie. What is HE doing?  Perhaps something shirtless?

I’ve been cruising the internet for about 2 hours now and I can’t find one freaking shirtless pic of this beefcake.  I need to see some skin!  Stop being shy Albert, I will be gentle.  I am sure someone out their on the interweb has a pick of Albie playing bocci ball on the sands of Atlantic City – so please feel free to send it directly to me.  PLEASE!

1800GAYLIVE Heads South For A Steamy Hot Photo Shoot – Part 1

May 16th, 2010 by Dick

Dick here…

As difficult as this is going to be, I am going to turn over this article to someone else. His name is Marc and he works for 1800GAYLIVE in their marketing department. He was lucky enough to go on a trip to Florida for a steamy hot photo shoot for 1800GAYLIVE. He hasn’t stopped gushing about the experience since he returned, so I reluctantly allowed him to hijack some of my space for his articles… I’m just giving him a hard time, he is actually very sweet and I think you will all enjoy what he has to say and show off from his trip. So I now turn it over to Marc…

Hi everyone at Loud and Queer. This is Marc, the Marketing Coordinator for 1800GAYLIVE! Let me start by saying, planning a photo shoot with 9 models, at a location thousands of miles away from where your office is located is NOT easy. There are a lot of details to figure out and you need to be ready for anything to go wrong at the last moment. Did you book everyone’s flights? How about hotels? Do you have the right mix of models that will look good together? Will the weather cooperate for the outside shots? These are just some of the endless questions you will have to consider ahead of time. However, I’ll cut to the chase and say that our recent 1800GAYLIVE shoot was pretty much a perfect experience, and I couldn’t have asked for better guys to work with both in front of and behind the camera! But I’m getting ahead of myself; let’s back up a bit…
I arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida late the night before the photo shoot. I barely had time to check in to my room before it was time for lights out so I’d be refreshed for the first day of the shoot. I do have to give a huge shout out to the resort I picked to stay at. I was staying at the Grand Resort  located on North Birch Road, just a few blocks back from the beach. This men’s only resort and spa is like a vacation all to itself with gorgeous rooms, a beautiful pool, a full service on-site luxury spa, and a clothing optional Jacuzzi area (yes, I did strip down to nothing to enjoy all the bubbles dancing across my body!) They’ve thought of every last detail from the free Wi-Fi to the complementary continental breakfast. They even will loan you towels and beach equipment so you don’t have to pack your own. If you ever find yourself in Ft. Lauderdale, I recommend you give them a call and book your room at the Grand Resort!

Anyway, after tearing myself away from the hotel, I arrived on location at FabScout Entertainment Thursday morning, not sure what to expect. I had been on photo shoots before, but on a much smaller scale than this. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. The studios they use to shoot cover almost every scenario you could want: A bedroom setting, living room, gym locker room, office, shower, along with a standard white background to be used for generic shots. They had tons of props on hand for every situation we could possibly want to cover. The only question remaining… would the men we selected to work with be as nice in person as they were on their photo reels we looked at before the shoot? And would the photographer be able to get us the types of images we wanted?  The answer to both is an overwhelming YES!

I will continue my photo shoot experience soon and start talking about the individual models, how they acted on and off camera and some of the behind the scenes antics that were almost too hot to handle!

Stay tuned and stay hard!

Bye Bye Butt!

May 14th, 2010 by Dick

The last few years have not been kind to the LGBTQ print market. Genre faded away, to be followed by the shocking end of HX.  Now, another favorite mag of ours is making a break for it.  Butt, the international quarterly rag, is halting print production for the rest of 2010 in order to firm up the magazine’s website, which will relaunch in August.

Butt broke into the publishing world with a slight splash thanks to their unusual paperstock, distribution (available at many American Apparel stores), and unusually (and often painfully) hip photography and subject matter.

The magazine’s founders and editors broke the bad news to readers in an email this morning, calling the break a “sabbatical”.

Dear BUTT friend,

You may have noticed that BUTT magazine has been coming out more and more irregularly recently, and in fact we are taking a little break this year from the quarterly publication schedule, in order to develop the magazine’s online presence and other BUTT projects. This means that a printed follow-up of the current issue (BUTT 28) is not expected until 2011. In the meantime we’ll use this sabbatical from print as a welcome break to develop new exciting ideas and formats for BUTT, both online and off. Ideas and contributions are welcome as ever!

This August we’ll be launching an updated and more versatile version of our popular website, www.buttmagazine.com – with more fun and functionality for readers and a new platform for BUTTHEADS, the digital community of BUTT lovers. Meanwhile, a follow-up of the delicious BUTT 2010 calendar is well on its way for 2011. Stay tuned!

For now, enjoy the spring and see you very soon!

Sketchy Guys

May 10th, 2010 by Dick

Chances are that if you have picked up a gay newspaper or magazine over the last 10 years, you have been amused by the work of the talented Greg Fox.  Fox is a nationally recognized illustrator, cartoonist,  and social commentator.  it doesn’t matter what city you call home, Phoenix, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, or Tulsa…This guys has contributed to all the major rags – and his stuff is consistently funny, hot, and on point. I love Fox cause he peppers his work with some realistic gay dialogue, situations, and sex. Plus, he is also a big comic book geek like me – as you can see from this pic right here…

Fox’s most notable comic strip is titled Kyle’s Bed & Breakfast, which he has been creating since 1998. The strip is currently running in a variety of publications across North America, as well as on the web. Fox published the first book collection of Kyle’s B&B in September, 2004. In January, 2005, the book was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award.

Check out Kyle’s blog spot for a lot of good stuff…go HERE!

There Is Always Room For Jello…

May 9th, 2010 by Dick

This might be old news to some of you queens in the DelMarVa area, but I absolutely need to share this with all or my readers nationwide.

Last month, April 17, EFN Lounge in Washington  pulled out its inflatable pool and rounded up a group of handsome and willing combatants who went mano-a-mano in their underwear in a sea of red Jell-o. No lie kids, these bitches brought back Jello Wrestling and they brought it back HARD.

GO HERE for this NSFW video of Jello Wrestling

The ultimate winner was Chris, who won all three rounds of the event.  If Chris is reading, I’d love to lick that jello of him any time he is available.
