Gay Cowboys Headline the Philadelphia Independence Day Event!

Internationally acclaimed DC Cowboys Dance Company from “America’s Got Talent” will appear as one of the headliners of the Wawa Welcome America! Philadelphia Independence Day Parade on July 4, 2010. The company’s participation marks the first time these gay, gay, GAY DC Cowboys have been invited to participate in a mainstream parade.
DC Cowboys Artistic & Executive director Kevin Platte said, “We are honored to be making our debut in the Philadelphia Independence Day parade. And I think that we might even be the first openly gay organization ever to participate. Our inclusion is definitely groundbreaking and significant. Philadelphia is willing to celebrate diversity as it celebrates freedom. And I applaud Philadelphia for including us in their—and the nation’s—festivities.”
The DC Cowboys Dance Company is a performing arts organization for gay men located in Washington, DC. The company specializes in exciting, high-energy, dance numbers which span all musical genres from contemporary country to musical theater to the latest pop. The DC Cowboys’ style has been characterized as a “trademark combo of Broadway-caliber verve, sizzling sex appeal and rugged good looks.”
Television appearances and performance highlights from around the world include: Semi-finalists on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent;” headliners at the Closing Ceremonies of the Gay Games on Chicago’s Wrigley Field; the Magic Mirror Show at Budapest’s Sziget Festival; and in Dublin, Ireland, for the Miss Alternative Ireland Pageant and Ireland’s most watched late night TV talk show, “The Podge and Rodge Show.”
