Gay Villian On GLEE!

November 5th, 2011 by Dick

.

Hey Gleeks!

You are about to get a big dose of more GAY in your nightly Glee episodes.  (Is that even possible?)

Super-cute Grant Gustin will play the menacing role of Sebastian, a gay character who will shake things up romantically with Blaine, played by Darren Criss.  Dum-dum-dum! Gustin’s first episode as Sebastian will air Nov. 8.

Gustin is a long-time theater veteran with his previous role in “West Side Story” taking a backseat to his new role in Glee.

On his new role as Sebastian, Gustin explained, “He’s kind of a new type of gay character. He’s someone you wouldn’t necessarily know is gay unless you asked him, but he’d be the first person to tell you.”

He’s very confident and comfortable with who he is and what he wants. Darren (Criss) was that new confident strong gay character, and Sebastian is taking that a step further. He’s a guys-guy, just a dude who happens to be gay, he’s a lacrosse player, he’s popular. He’s after Blaine, obviously, and he’s also trying to take the place that Blaine had as the leader of the Warblers.

Normally, I get a little squeamish when I hear that someone is a “guy’s guy kinda gay” – it always sounds a little homophobic to me. I am a screaming queen and I have never had ANY problem relating to any kind of open-minded hetero. But, I agree it is certainly time to bring a fuller spectrum of homosexuality to the masses.  I guess after two seasons of Kurt’s super-super-queer, we can sneak in some butchiness.

Hollywood Shocked: Gay Man Plays Gay Man!

October 23rd, 2011 by Dick

.

A few days ago, we wrote our “love” letter to Zachary Quinto.

He recently came out as gay boy, so the entertainment industry is all abuzz about his career. Quinto has been climbing up the Hollywood sign, with big roles as the villain Sylar on “Heroes“  and as Spock in the 2009 “Star Trek” film.

But we are all about to get a whole lot more of Quinto.  In “American Horror Story,” created by “Glee“‘s Ryan Murphy, Quinto will play Chad, the former  owner of the spoooky old mansion in question.  Chad, who befriends lead Mom-character Vivien (Connie Britton), is also gay!  Chad will make his first appearance in this Wednesday’s episode, a two-parter, with the second episode airing on Halloween! (If you haven’t gotten into this breathtakingly creepy and wonderful new series, you simply must!  And you will have your opportunity; there will be a marathon of the first four episodes leading up to the October 31 showing.)

He’s kind of become a bit of our obsession here at GayLive HQ.  Just so you know, he’s a bit of an activist too! Quinto recorded a video for the “It Gets Better” campaign, and has volunteered and promoted  for The Trevor Project.

The actor has also recently played Anna Farris’ boyfriend in the comedy “What’s Your Number?” Previous queer roles for Quinto include him as Tori Spelling’s bestie on “So NoTORIous.”

Who’s Gay?

April 2nd, 2011 by Dick

.

It’s time for everyone’s most favorite game…”Who’s Gay?”

We’ve culled headlines around the world to give YOU, our beloved readers, a full insight into the sexuality of some of the most famous of celebrities and historical figures!

Ghandi: GAY?

Honestly,  the homosexuality of DEAD historical figures really doesn’t get me a chubby. Seriously.  Who cares? They are dead!  But, people seem to be all up in a big smoke about this….Go HERE.

Archie: Gay?

Actually, no. That eternally young ginger is still as straight as an arrow and still chasing after Betty and Veronica.  Now his new buddy, Kevin Keller, is super-gay! Gay, gay, gay… And he is out and about!

Matthew Morrison of Glee: Gay?

This curly hunk hits my gaydar like a 747. But, he still claims to be a straighty… I think he is probably pretty straight, but anyone who dances like that would probably let his pee-pee get sucked by a fellow.

Donald Trump: Gay?

No. The Donald is not gay.  And the property tycoon evidently is not a supporter of gay marriage!  Homophobe!  Check out his hate-speech HERE!

Who Doesn’t Love Cute Gay Teens?

January 27th, 2011 by Dick

.

Did you catch the Christmas episode of  “Glee” ?  When the two little-LGBTQ love birds sang “Baby, It’s Cold Outside“?  I melted.

“That was by far the gayest thing that has ever been on TV, period.” said Chris Colfer of the fan favorite scene between him and (my future husband) Darren Criss in last week’s Entertainment Weekly.

Chris, who snagged a Golden Globe for his performance as the bullied, but proud Kurt, appears on the cover of EW with co-star Darren for a story about the recent trend of gay characters on network television. The issue chronicles the history of gay teenagers on TV from classics like My So-Called Life,”Dawson’s Creekand Degrassi” to current ground breakers like “Glee” and Pretty Little Liars (both of which were nominated for GLAAD Media Awards this week).  Have you seen “Pretty Little Liars”? I am modeling my life after it! So juicy!

The article brings up a stellar point:  Just how much has the television landscape changed over the past few years.  In 2005, the folks over at “The O.C.” were met with resistance when they tried to show a short-lived relationship between Marissa (Mischa Barton) and Alex (Olivia Wilde). One of the show’s executive producers explained, “We could’ve had more support in terms of making that a long-term story line. There were definitely some questions about how long we were doing this story. And we did have to do some editing to make kisses shorter and pull back on some physicality of the characters.”

But now,  six years later, in the wake of the string of tragic gay youth suicides that shook the U.S., “Glee” has openly gay characters with a fledgling romance. Even on “90210“, the spawn of classic 90s super-hit “Beverly Hills 90210” we have hunky gay characters in believable plots!  Check out this steamy vid to see what I mean…

I Just Died On Your DVR Tonight

November 10th, 2010 by Dick

.

Last night just might have been the gayest night on television. Let’s break it down.

First up, Glee blew the roof off their stellar record of homo-friendly fun with the introduction of Blaine, who sings with a rival glee-ers the Dalton Academy Warblers, played by my future husband Darren Criss.

We first reported that new guy Chord Overstreet was going to play Kurt Hummel’s (Chris Colfer) much anticipated love interest, but he’s been snogging Quinn for weeks.  Which is fine. I am in love with this kid. Check out his all-boys academy version of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dreams - and tell me you don’t fall right into boner-time.

. .

Before joining the cast of Glee, Criss was on the shortlived show Eastwick, which nobody ever saw…

Criss is best known as playing the title role in the very viral and very hysterical  A Very Potter Musical (and A Very Potter Sequel). Both, Harry Potter spoofs by the U of Michigan theater group StarKid went viral last year, launching curly cutie here into web celeb status and kick-starting his career as a singer-songwriter.

I won’t go into too many details about the rest of the rampant same-sex lovefest that was Glee last night, but to say if you have NOT seen it – Hulu that shit NOW!  NOW! Now! Now! Now!

Later, the cherry on my HD TV sundae, The Fashion Show rolled out it’s second season! They dumped Kelly Rowland to up the diva factor with IMAN! IMAN!  David Bowie’s fierce super-model super-wife!  Style icon IMAN!

Fashion Show stunk last season – but this season with the introduction of IMAN (you must all-caps it!) and her wacky-haughy-weird accent and diva behavior, I am going to be hooked like heroin! I love how every critique IMAN offers the designers is yelled…She is glamorously bellowing at the crappy designers.  I love it!

So, if you missed last night, then you were absent for the greatest night for gay men since the birth of Jeffrey Sanker.  Don’t be at the gym or the bathhouse next week when Tuesday Night TV skips into your home!

New Gay On GLEE!

August 25th, 2010 by Dick

Let’s have a Coming Out Party!  There is a new gay in town!  (And we aren’t talking about former RNC Chair Ken Mehlman)

It looks like a new fresh fag (or at least curious) will soon be a part of Fox’s hit show GLEE. Perpetually single-and-slinky Kurt Hummel is about to get a boyfriend, and it’s going to be the quarterback of the football team. According to E!:

GLEE GETS EVEN GAYER

“Rumors that new cast member Chord Overstreet will play Chris Colfer’s on-screen boyfriend – Sam Evans – appear to be true.”

“They’ve cast him already,” Jane Lynch told us. “He becomes the new star quarterback and he’s going to be Kurt’s boyfriend.”

Sam, will in fact be a protege of super-sexy but still-straight Finn, but eventually the student will surpass the mentor and Finn and the new fairy will become rivals.  Hopefully, a light dusting of some hot hate sex will ensue.  (While I love Colfer’s Kurt, I’m seriously smitten with Finn.
While Lynch couldn’t remember the name of the actor who is playing Kurt’s beau (it’s Chris Colfer by the way), she described the lucky guy as “a good looking kid.”

“He’s tall, boyish with straight blond hair and big fat, pouty lips,” she said.

Boy-oh-boy is Lynch ever right!  Look at this doll! Let’s hear it for the boy!

Glee returns in a new time slot this season… Look for it Tuesday, September 21 2010 at 8:00/7:00c
